CHILDREN SERVICES
Offering support for problem behaviours and helping children learn new skills using evidence-based and holistic approaches. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach used to understand behaviour. ABA therapy helps to increase communication and language skills, reduce and manage problem behaviours, and develop socially appropriate behaviours. ABA also helps to develop and improve social skills, attention, focus, and academics. ABA uses various strategies which includes but not limited to prompting, modelling, chaining, differential reinforcements to develop new skills and manage problem behaviours,
RESPITE CARE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Respite care is important for those caring for individuals having disabilities. Respite care allows individuals to engage with others. It includes sitter companion services, which are provided by people who have been particularly trained to provide services to clients with special needs, such as those with impairments.
RESIDENTIAL SUPPORT
Individuals are provided with a home environment. The Residential Program can help you find your home and if you would like, a roommate to live with. We support adults with disabilities and whatever challenges you may have, up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our staff work along side you to provide you with encouragement and help to develop the skills you need to live a happy and healthy life. You and/or your guardian are at the centre of making decisions about your life and your well-being guides the assistance that staff provides to you. Our staff work with you to discover what activities/interests you have, along with helping you learn to do things with assistance or on your own. We can help you learn about friendships, personal relationships and how to make connections in the community. We will support you to cope with issues that make you sad or upset and assist you with building skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, shopping, and taking care of your health.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Community support is a program that help individuals to get involved in the community to do similar kinds of activities as the Day Program. Service includes, providing customize support to individuals having disabilities based on their individual requirements. Our organization enable individuals to help them to help themselves. The goal of the program is to increase independence and develop social skills, through regular participation in the community.
DAY PROGRAM
Day program provides activities for group of people with disabilities. These activities include recreation and developing general skills. Day programs include training that helps people build work-related skills. The Day Supports offers help in learning new skills and getting involved in the community. Activities include going to the Gym, for walks, to the library, delivering flyers, volunteering, or going to events at places like ” Seniors on the Bow” or the literacy program at the local library.
SUPPORTED INDEPENDENT LIVING
The Supported Independent Living Program is a community-based program that provides support to the Individuals who are ready to live more independently in the community. We offer flexible models of service including Supportive Roommates and Supportive Neighbors. A Supportive Roommate model is when you choose to move into a single person or family home. A Supportive Neighbor model is when you would prefer to live on your own but still would like daily support from your neighbor who lives close by. Each model of support will assist you with your support needs such as:• helping you to keep your place clean and tidy, • helping you to do your laundry, • planning and preparing healthy and nutritional meals, • grocery shopping, • budgeting, • self-care, • making and keeping medical/dental, optometrist appointments • monitoring and/or assisting you with your medication, • helping you to register for any recreational/leisure activities that you choose to participate in. Like all the programs at BTLSSA, you will meet with your support team for a planning meeting at least every year, to talk about what is important to you and how we can work together to help you achieve your personal goals.
SOCIAL SERVICE
Qualified professionals in our team offer assistance to families and kids who needs or wants assessment and/or treatment as an essential member of the interdisciplinary team. They can assist you and your child in overcoming the emotional and practical worries that come along with the identification and management of various developmental and behavioural concerns and issues.
